WARP & WOOF

AN ARCHITECTURE OFFICE

INTEGRATED DESIGN

Weaving all design aspects into one integrated whole

The Warp and the WoofWarp & Woof combines architecture, urbanism, and landscape architecture into one amalgamated practice. We strive to deeply integrate a design into its surroundings, adapting to the existing urban fabric or the natural environment. In doing so we guarantee the creation of beautiful space, and improved quality on all levels of scale. We carry this philosophy through to the smallest detail, and when you add to that the full integration of sustainable solutions, you've got our office in a nutshell.

What's in a name? The name of our office says a lot about us: It is a direct analogy to the way we approach architectural design. Essentially it means we "weave": We're wont to take up all existing notions and preconditions and weave them together into one expertly crafted tapestry. Hence we do not design mere solitary objects, but rather strands of architecture that are interlaced with the larger surrounding whole, composing a complex fabric that is much more than just the sum of its parts.

(de)construction Started

Rijswijk

First steps have been taken to sustainably renovate a 19th century villa in Rijswijk. What entails mostly demolition at the moment will resurrect with full revision and insulation of walls and floors. Subsequently the construction of integrated funiture and a new outhouse building will start, all designed by Warp & Woof.

roof vegetation

Almen

Highest point reached, exterior cladding well on its way: It's about time to bring in the vegetation and start planting the roof. It's no secret we entertain somewhat of a specialization in green walls and roofs, but this one will be something special. When finished the endemic green features will truly tie the building in with the landscape.

The designs have been finalized, and an agreement has been reached with one of our affiliated contractors. Construction will start before the end of the month, and we can't wait to see what this project will look like when it's finished. Quite a unique piece for sure, with smooth and sleek detailing and some quirky reveals behind secret passageways.
